But she goes crazy this week with an awesome corset/kimono combo with crazy platform boots you know did not come from the Bluefly.com accessories wall! But it’s a week when that’s not good enough. … Project Runway 5.4: The recapAugust 14th, 2008, 12:13 am by Sam MittelsteadtIt’s a lipstick jungle out there for the designers this week, who must create a look for “a high-powered and glamorous professional woman.” A fictional high-powered and glamorous professional woman, to be exact — Brooke Shields’ character on “The Lipstick Jungle,” to be exact. This is a big relief to Blayne, who worried it would be Hillary Clinton and “I would never win if I made a neon pantsuit.” Dear Blayne, you’re never going to win anyway. (I just wish your dismissal would be soon, so I don’t have to hear Tim Gunn debase himself with “holla at cha boy” each week.) Project Runway 5.4: The recapAugust 7th, 2008, 12:04 am by Sam MittelsteadtThis week, “surrealist” Jennifer interprets a challenge to create an outfit for U.S. Olympic athletes as, “make a cute cocktail dress with a coordinating twinset-style cardigan.” The good news: After this week, she’ll have more time to look up the definition of “surrealism” and figure out where she went wrong. Project Runway 5.3: The recapJuly 30th, 2008, 11:32 pm by Sam MittelsteadtTonight we learn that Nina Garcia, like Keith Whitley’s beloved, says it best when she says nothing at all. Her criticism of losing designer Emily’s outfit goes something like this: “No comment.” ‘Project Runway’ designers hook up!July 27th, 2008, 10:41 am by Sam MittelsteadtTwo designers from this season of “Project Runway” have started dating. (Cue the “They have designs on each other,” etc., puns now.) See who after the jump. ‘Project Runway’ 5.2: The recapJuly 24th, 2008, 7:57 am by Sam MittelsteadtThis week the designers show how green they are TWO ways – they use environmentally friendly clothing, and only a couple of them do particularly well at it. The others … well, to borrow a phrase from Charlie on last night’s “Shear Genius” (who won hairstylist of the year at the CosmoProf awards in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, FYI): Some of the designers may be green, but others were “neon green.” I think we now know why they keep referring to this pack as the “most diverse” group of designers instead of, say, the “most talented.” ‘Project Runway’ spoils itself with episode guideJuly 22nd, 2008, 11:57 am by Sam MittelsteadtHalf the fun of “Project Runway” is finding out what each week’s challenge is going to be, so I’m not sure why Bravo would have posted the summaries of every episode this season — including guest judges and design themes. It seems kind of spoiler-ish. On the other hand: Now I’m sort of excited about seeing what the designers pull out for guest judge RuPaul — not because I’m excited about RuPaul, but I’m hoping the challenge is about drag queen fashion. How crazy would that be? (Chris March from last season could have swept this challenge.) But I might have to be recused from duties Aug. 27, when guest judge is — shudder — Rachel Zoe. I wonder if the Bluefly accessories wall has a spray-tan machine and tongue-depressors to kick-start those eating disorders? Project Runway 5.1: The recapJuly 16th, 2008, 11:50 pm by Sam MittelsteadtBravo’s going green this season, and recycling past seasons — tonight’s episode features a rehash of the grocery store challenge from Season 1, even bringing back that challenge winner as guest judge. Perhaps remembering the woes of wilted produce, not many designers opt for using food as a design element, which earns them scorn from Tim Gunn. And I’ve already decided who I hate most. Project Runway … malaise, already?July 16th, 2008, 2:10 pm by Sam MittelsteadtI guess I’m looking forward to tonight’s season premiere of “Project Runway” … sort of. |
