Shoe Hot or Not: Bride-to-be edition

I should point out that this week’s Shoe Hot or Not contender is kind of a fait accompli: My friend Amy already has purchased them to wear at her wedding.
And, I believe, she bought the “Organdy” pumps by Michael Kors in this color.
If I were to hazard a guess as to why, I would say it’s because:
1. She figures nobody will be able to see them underneath her long gown – which is beautiful, FYI – and they look a bit sturdier for dancing than your traditional slipper-style shoes.
2. She also will be able to wear them again after the wedding, unlike her gown. (I wonder if she’s going to be a Trash The Dress kind of bride?)
I certainly think they’re a good idea for after the wedding: I love the platform-style sole, the contrast on the captoe, and the rich jeweltone color will transition well into fall. Worn with a crisp gray suit, they’d be a great accent piece for a pop of color, but still have a professional edge.
(But, do you really want your bridal shoes to have a “professional edge”? You’d better keep these well hidden, Amy! I don’t want to see them peeking out under the gown as you walk down the aisle.)
So: let’s discuss: Would you wear these shoes at your wedding? Would you wear these AFTER your wedding? Vote in the poll below – click on the box that you agree with most, or even create your own answer.

Also, be sure to leave a comment below – one person who does so by Saturday, Oct. 4, will win some cool stuff from Philosophy. (I will consult my Magical Drawer of Booty, Spoils & Plunder when I get home and update this post with more specifics.)
And remember: be kind! A bride-to-be will probably read this, and you know how emotionally fragile they can be. (And I don’t want her banning me from her wedding ceremony.)

Amy!!!! I love that you have the cojones to wear red shoes under your wedding dress. Very subversive!

weird.

It’s just weird to see sturdy red shoes poking out from under a formal white gown.

Shoes are very different, I like them. I would NOT wear to my wedding, but I would wear TO a wedding. I have to give her much-o credit for being edgy and different! What is fashion without being edgy and different anyway??!! Especial for Bridal which can be the same ol’ thing wedding after wedding.
The color is GREAT for fall too. Without the height, the shoe would be more understated & wierd, so I think it has a good balance.

I am very concerned.
This is a great shoe but it is not a shoe to be worn to anty type of gala and certainly not designed for formal wear.
I know many brides who opt for a ceremony shoe, an edgier shoe for dancing and another shoe for the after party but I can not see this shoe fitting into any of these catagories.
Amy I do not know you but maybe we could have lunch and I could give you some direction.

This shoe would look great with wool flannel but not a wedding gown fabric. I would wear with a sporty outfit

Hi everyone! Thanks for your comments. I never even though that these shoes were “professional.” I’m extremely foreign to girly things, especially footwear. Sam can verify that if I’m not wearing flip flops, I’m probably at a funeral. Michael, I’d love to meet for lunch and let you direct me. No sarcasm at all, I could use all the help I can get!
Wait until I share my hair do with everyone. Scrunchies are still in, right?

You should *totally* have lunch with Michael! My co-workers can testify to that effect — six of them met him a couple of weeks ago and we STILL talk about it at work.
Also: before you let him decide which shoes you wear, make him agree to buy them.
After all, according to the poll at the top, most people agree they’re HOT for both wedding and after!

Name the day Sam will give you my number. I have helped many a bride and am a professional when it comes to most things girly regarding a wedding.

I love the shoes, I’m jealous that Amy owns them. I’d wear them to work as often as I could! As for with a wedding gown…I’d have to see it with the gown. My first instinct is “No!”…but we haven’t seen the gown, so until then, final judgement is pending…
