Party + people-watch for charity at HeartBeat 2008

I’d suggest wearing a bit more than the models above if you go to HeartBeat on Canal Street, the fund-raiser party with music, fashion, drinks and food Oct. 18 at the Scottsdale Waterfront.
Finally, a ticket in Scottsdale that doesn’t involve photo radar and a court appearance! (Well, depending on your behavior after the fully hosted bar, a court appearance might be in the cards. ….)
(In a tangential note, I went to the Fairmont Scottsdale on Sunday for dinner at the new Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak and hit there right when the resort’s weekly pool party for the annoyingly young and rich was getting out. “You, in the bikini and sunglasses and heels, waiting for the valet to pick up your car: PUT SOME FREAKING CLOTHES ON. You are not in the pool area. I don’t care if you’re skinny and have D-cup implants. You’re annoying me.”)
Anyway, back to HeartBeat … Tickets are $250 per person ($150 is tax-deductible), and proceeds benefit the local chapter of the American Heart Association.
What does a quarter-grand get you? Music by DJ Rod Carrillo; live performances by Molly James, Allan Chadwick’s Capital Down and The Shallow Type; a fully hosted mojito bar, champagne, vodka and other cocktails; food from 12 Waterfront restaurants, from Digestif to Cowboy Ciao; and giveaways. (I see some of the sponsors include Burberry, Cartier and Royal Palms Resort and Spa …)
The party begins at 6 p.m. and continues through 11:30; suggested dress code is (ugh) “amazing attire.” (I’m amazed people are still buying Ed Hardy and Christian Audigier T-shirts; do they count?) No doubt because of the hosted bar, attendees must be 21 or older.
Get more information here; buy tickets here with the event code “Canal.”
