The folks at Sharps Barber Brigade giveth, and the folks at Sharps taketh away. And then they giveth again, and now they’re getting ready to taketh away again.

Today I got an e-mail from Sharps, announcing that the company’s ancillary line, which included the shave gel I love so much, is being discontinued. For real, for permanent, for no-more-getting-it-on-the-web-either. “We don’t have an exact date of when the site is going down, but once it happens it will happen fast so get in there and grab what you want,” the message read. If I hadn’t been screwed once before, I would suspect it was just a ploy to bump up sales — kind of like those furniture stores that are perpetually having “going out of business” sales for years. But I had, so instead I ordered 9 tubes and will find a place to cache them.

They did try to soften the blow, though: All orders of $50 or more get a 10 percent discount (type “barberbrigade” in the “coupon code” box), and they’ll give free shipping to any order of more than $40.

Sharps still has its signature shave line, too, which is sold at shops like Glam Lounge in Scottsdale and Men’s Ultimate Grooming at Superstition Springs Center in Mesa.
