Moody Blues’ midnight move-out; Twist still swinging

July 28th, 2008, 1:08 pm · 2 Comments · posted by Sam Mittelsteadt

While on rounds this weekend I chatted up some Scottsdale store owners and managers — many lamented the loss of Mahsa Jaeger’s store at Scottsdale Waterfront. But despite rumors of a similar fate, Twist boutique in the same shopping center is not going out of business, says store manager Nicole Lockman.

Lockman says she thinks the fact the store is having a gigantic sale, paired with the neighboring store’s closing, has led some people to believe their clearance sale is something permanet. That’s not the case, she says — and you can see for yourself at 7135 E. Camelback Road.

But to be filed under the “True” category: Moody Blues pulled a “midnight move-out” of its space at The Mix Shops of Southbridge on Stetson Drive. Store owners Randy and Shannon Gatewood kept the Chandler store open, and my source says they’re looking for a new location in Scottsdale. The challenge will be fulfilling those pesky exclusivity agreements, which require a certain geographic distance between stores that carry the same merchandise.

I do have to give up the boots — I always thought they were a little tight lately and the other day I broke down and looked at the size: They’re 10s! Which, considering I’m a 12 or 13 now, probably explains it.
