Shoe Hot or Not: Cesare Paciotti edition

I got my new issue of Bazaar the other day (and congratulations, Glenda Bailey, on making Jessica Biel look mannish and like a graceless hoofer in her spread with a few different designers*). While I was leafing through the front pages I found a pair of Cesare Paciotti shoes I thought would be perfect for Shoe Hot or Not … but they’re not up on his website yet so I was forced to make a substitution.

And this time, rather than pick something that I have a strong “yes” or “no” feeling about, I opted for a style that I can’t decide on.

cpfull.jpgOr, more accurately, I can’t really work up much feeling about. I think these sandals are a pile of “meh.” I don’t think they’re horrific, but the heel looks kind of ungainly, and the whole shoe is kind of a clunker. I would never recommend someone buy these shoes, but neither would I dissuade someone: “Well, I guess if you like ‘em …” So my verdict is “Not Hot” — not horrific, but not hot. (Right-click on the thumbnail at left to bring up the full-size photo in a new window.)

But what do you think? Is that sandal Hot, or Not? Cast your vote in the interactive poll below by clicking your choice. (And if you’ve got a different take, feel free to create a new option.) You can vote once — but there’s no time limit. (Yes, I go back and check to see how each contender is faring, even months later.)

Plus, if you’ve got the time and opinion, leave a comment at the bottom – everyone who does so by Saturday, Aug. 2, will be entered into a drawing to win a pack of nail polishes from Essie — six nudes and pinks, and four more daring colors: sparkly gunmetal Over the Top; iridescent bronze-ish Steel-ing the Scene (the same color as my car!); gold-flecked vermilion Stealing the Scene; and classic scarlet Who’s She Red. Good luck!

UPDATE: Congratulations to Taylor, whose comment was chosen as the winer. ammit

* And another thing I hate in photo credits, along with “stylist’s own”: “Price upon request.” Here’s my request: I want you to publish the price in your magazine with the photo. Providing information is central to journalism (even fashion magazines). Readers want to know how much something costs. Trust me.

No likey. Everything from the heel to the straps is just too chunky. Even the color is ugly. I like my women in pretty shoes.

  2. Crazy H Says:

Close up is not so good. Far away is not so bad. I don’t mind the color, but I don’t like the suede texture. When I first saw the shoe I made a face between a smile and a bitter beer scrunch. (It was ugly…I am sure)

  3. Lori Says:

I can’t focus on the shoes because I am too distracted by her fugly unpedicured feet.

  4. Sam Mittelsteadt Says:

I suspect (read: am praying) that her feet are actually very lovely, and it’s just the dark shadows adding those tones to her skin.

  5. Michael Says:

I agree with Lori. her feet are nasty. My feet would have looked prettier in those shoes and I have some nasty feet.

  6. Ana Says:

Not a fan. Don’t like the cut out patterns, it looks like a rejected snowflake project by a kindergardener, slapped onto a cheap heel. Not to mention, that chick has got some fugly feet.

  7. Taylor Says:

I like the color and the idea of the look as a whole. I just think that these look like the Payless version of something greater.

PS They should turn this ad into a campaign against foot binding.

    PPS It’s okay. I’m Asian.

  8. Beth Says:

yuck! don’t like these at all.

  9. JOYE Says:

The design concept is good but I don’t think the execution was successful. I think a smooth leather version in black would be classy looking.

  10. Sarah Says:

I’ve seen cuter. Don’t love the color either.

  11. Megan Says:

The color is strange, I think it would be nicer if it were a deeper purple. Everything else is horrible. Chunky heel, hideous straps, odd material. And the model does need a pedicure!

  12. Lisa Says:

I agree with everyone else regarding the needed pedi, but I actually like the shoe. It’s bright and different.

  13. Robert Says:

Me no likey….why do these remind me of a gladiator ?

  14. Sherrie Says:

The shoe looks like you knocked over your grandma’s table and got her doiley stuck to your foot.

  15. Debbie dba D.B.T. Says:

I like jewel tones, but something about this isn’t quite right. Not completely thought through…
