Project Runway … malaise, already?

I guess I’m looking forward to tonight’s season premiere of “Project Runway” … sort of.
(Without their faces: Which of these 16 people would you select to dress you?)
I don’t know – maybe it’s the fact they only released the competitors’ names two days before the show began, but there’s something vaguely less-than-exciting about the program this time around. And that’s even despite the fact one of the competitors is from my home state of Montana.
My friend Albert has suggested that Bravo is sandbagging this season – after the series announced it would jump to Lifetime, it wouldn’t hurt to announce how “badly” it was performing in the ratings this time around, so it wouldn’t look like as much of a loss when it leaves. Whereas Jess suggests that maybe they’re cutting it so close, they just didn’t have time to get things up and running ahead of time.
In any case, I will be tuning in tonight – and, with the help of Funny Michael, will be recapping the series, too. In the interim, here are my snap judgments on a few of the contestants, based solely on their promo picks on the Bravo web site.
Blayne: When you dress like a reject from the Urban Outfitters/Abercrombie applicant pile, it does not make me believe you can sew. If this is Seattle’s most stylish male, I feel sorry for Seattle.
Daniel: The half-tuck? Really? I’m supposed to trust your style choices? No.
Jerell: This season’s Ricky, sartorially speaking.
Kenley: I like her dress-over-pants thing much better than Korto’s. Still, dress over pants.
