Shoe Hot or Not: Beaded edition

Today’s shoe reminds me of “California Dreamin’,” the Indian reservations near our house in Montana, and my neighbors who let us come over and listen to Fleetwood Mac albums when my parents wouldn’t think of letting us buy the records. (Which, now that I think about it 30 years later, is kind of odd: I was in love with that album and I wasn’t even in third grade yet.)

Anyway: I think this ‘Akira 2’ sandal by Jeffrey Campbell ($79.95 at Nordstrom) is a nice, summery alternative to the more aggressively superstrappy gladiator styles that are omnipresent this season.

What do you think? Is this shoe Hot, or Not? Cast your vote in the interactive poll below by clicking your choice. (And if you’ve got a different take, feel free to create a new option.)

Plus, if you’ve got the time and opinion, leave a comment at the bottom – everyone who does so by Friday, June 20, will be entered into a drawing to win a pack of Yes to Carrots products: C is for Clean facial mud peeling cleanser; Feel the C pampering spa manicure, plus C is for Hair Care hair and scalp mud mask; C Through the Night moisturizing cream for dry to sensitive skin; and Eye Can C Clearly Now eye contour cream.

UPDATE: Congratulations to Cinthia, whose comment was chosen as this week’s winner.

These are sooooooooooo NOT HOT! Reminds me of something my mother (who has questionable taste when it comes to Native American accessories) would have picked up roadside whilst driving through Gallup, NM. These are NOT for me and I would not give you one Sacagawea $1 for them …let alone $80.00!

  2. Crazy H Says:

Not. Some people may pull them off, but I wonder why they would spend that much and to what they would match it with.

  3. Sam Mittelsteadt Says:

I’d pair ‘em with an orange, kiwi or even raspberry colored top and white skirt or shorts. Or powder blue top and dark brown crop pants.

  4. Michael Says:

    I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!
When I was little every summer we would go on vacation to Lake George.
We were on a budget and the vacation was a treat so I did not ask for anything however I dreamed of getting a belt with the same beading as the sandals have and a western buckle.
One year my mom bought one for me. I think I was 7. I wore it everywhere and felt so chic. To this day it remains my most favorite belt that I have ever owned.
Whenver I see this type of beading it just brings me JOY.

  5. Tammy Says:

Michael…you make me laugh almost as much as my BROTHER!!

I think the sandals are really cute and would be a-lot of fun!!

  6. Beth Says:

yuck! I do not like these at all!!

  7. jan Says:

Cute, but then I like moccasins and turquoise.

  8. Miachelle Says:

I think they look really comfortable, and would go terrific with a number of casual summer outfits as long as the outfits are not hippy-or-southwest-oriented. That would be overkill.

BTW…Sam…why aren’t you in the Sunday paper lately? What is up with that???

  9. Sam Mittelsteadt Says:

I would claim I’m being a slacker, but it’s more just the additional duties that come with the new position.

And while I’ll carve out what I can for the occasional What’s In Store or Great Stuff, now most of my stuff appears here first, and then is “repurposed” for print when there’s room/theme/time.

If I had actually been on the ball two weeks ago, those Father’s Day gift ideas could have run LAST Sunday … but I didn’t even think about it until a week later. D’oh!

  10. Elaine Says:

I don’t really like these. But I know my mother and grandmother would!

  11. Cinthia Says:

1st of all I don’t like the price
2nd I don’t think I have anything to mach with the shoes.

  12. Dena Says:

I’m just relieved that they didn’t put a Kokopelli or Kachina doll on them….

  13. Sherrie Says:

    I’m 5ft 2 in. Not gonna happen.
