Father’s Day gift ideas, Day 2: Blue fragrance

Green may be the trend in homes, but in men’s fragrance it’s all about blue. Especially during summer months, scents that evoke cool water (including, but not limited to, Cool Water) do particularly well.

It could be time to help dad trade in his old model for a new Mustang! This week Aramis and Designer Fragrances (a division of Estee Lauder) rolls out Mustang Blue, a cologne spray that will sell for $20-$32 at stores like Kohl’s, Sears and JC Penney before its mass-market rollout in July. I got a lab sample of the scent and it’s a fresh aquatic compatriot to the original Mustang for Men, which The Fragrance Foundation named one of the finalists for Fragrance of the Year in the “men’s popular appeal” category.
Other blue fragrances, both new and classic:

Curve Kicks ($50) from Liz Claiborne; Nautica Blue from Nautica ($36.50); Blu Mediterraneo from Acqua di Parma ($64-$98); 212 Splash by Carolina Herrera ($54).

Blue Seduction by Antonio Banderas ($14.99, which is up for that Fragrance Foundation award in the same category as Mustang for Men); Signature Blue Mark by Jack Black ($65); Polo Blue by Ralph Lauren ($49.50-$69.50).
