Shoe Hot or Not: ‘Bombay’ edition

We’ve been hit by some unhappy events at the Trib, so I apologize for a lack of posting.
But it’s time to get back up on the horse. (And no, this week’s Shoe Hot or Not contender is not a pair of cowboy boots.)

Rather, it’s the not-quite-gladiator patent leather Bombay sandal from Maxstudio.com. I’m not sure if I love the double platform, even if it does add an extra inch of height — that recessed bottom part wedged under the lizard-print footbed looks just small enough to cause some wobbling issues.

But except for that, I like them a lot. I think I would like them even better if they weren’t patent leather, but that’s quibbling. I do not, however, like the black pair at right, which loses the fun contrast between the regular leather and the lizard-embossed details (which the Piperlime website is handy enough to point out constitutes 15% of the shoe).
But, what do you think? Cast your vote in the interactive poll below. You can even create your own answer, if you feel so inclined. And beneath that, feel free to leave a comment explaining your vote: Everyone who does will be entered into a drawing to win more than $180 worth of eye and hand care products from the Talika line: moisturizing Hand Therapy Gloves; the Nail Shaper electric manicure device; Nail Regenerator serum; and Eye Detox contour gel. I’ll draw one winner from the comments received by Friday, June 6. Good luck!
UPDATE: Congratulations to Judith, whose comment was chosen as the winner.

The brown ones are hot. The black ones are almost hot. The extra platform I am kind of digging. I don’t know if I think I need the extra height or I feel it gives the patent balance. Anyway, I like those.

I think the extra platform takes away from the overall design of the shoe. I would vote them in as wearable but not a favorite in either color

I like them in Brown, but a little too high for me!

Yikes….way too high for me, but I don’t care for the look. They seem out of balance.
I”m sorry to hear about Chris Page.
