I spent this weekend in … a city that will remain unnamed because it will get me in trouble with certain relatives I didn’t visit while I was there, and I stopped into Martin + Osa, a store by American Eagle Outfitters, only for adults. (Sort of like Abercrombie & Fitch has Ruehl 925.)
The good news: I found a navy cardigan to wear at work when the AC vent I sit under kicks on. The better news: The staff mentioned they’re opening a store in Scottsdale soon — as in, “a few months.” It would be the first in the market.
So my first instinct was to call the folks at Scottsdale Fashion Square, where the property manager said she couldn’t confirm or deny anything, because they “haven’t seen a lease come through.”
Which, in industry terms, usually means: “Sure, a store’s coming in, but we can’t comment on it because the ink’s not dry on the contract.” Sometimes stores don’t sign the lease until the day the store opens, to allow it wiggle room.
So I called the store I went to in Mystery City, where the manager said she heard the store would be in Chandler — “Is that anywhere near you? Is there even a place called that?” — but it wasn’t scheduled for this calendar year. Tomorrow the West Coast divisional manager will be in the store, so hopefully I’ll have an update then.
(And I love my cardigan. I’m wearing it now, as you can see below.)
