I’ve tried not to blog too much about Bravo’s “Make Me a Supermodel” because, well, America votes, and Americans have a propensity for screwing things up. Like I said at the beginning, you and I don’t really know what to look for — a point that was driven home when I watched the second-to-last episode last night, when one of the judges pointed out that one guy’s shoulders were too horizontal to look good in a suit.

That guy — Perry — originally lived in Phoenix (although he’s been an L.A. bartender for a while now) — and the other day when I was in Scottsdale, I found his picture in the “Experience Scottsdale” guide put out by the free Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.

(Those are all models, by the way, not a random foursome enjoying drinks.)

He’s certainly made for good TV watching — he blurs that line between “strong playful personality” and “d-bag,” and he had to suffer through his girlfriend ending up in the tabloids with Britney Spears’ paparazzi/boyfriend while he was stuck in the media-free house. (Next week: She visits!)

My favorite part of last night’s reunion show was when someone brought up the question why there were three guys in the finale and only one girl. In classic form: (1) Tyson Beckford took the credit, saying it’s because the guys listened to his directions, which — what is he even talking about? Were there intensive counseling sessions we never saw? Dude was in the middle of a sausage fest … and probably thrived on it. The way he comes off on the program, he seems like that kind of guy. (2) Niki Taylor said … something, but it was incomprehensible, even if it sounded very nice.

And nobody brought up what I think is the glaring explanation why: The program airs on Bravo, for god’s sake: A network whose viewership is entirely women and gay guys. For my money, Bravo is the gayest network on TV — and that includes Logo. Programs like “Project Runway,” “Top Chef,” Kathy Griffin comedy specials on heavy rotation …

And it’s not like the producers didn’t know it: Manflesh abounded on this series, from butt-shaving to naked photo shoots. (The second-to-last episode gave us a butt shot of Perry, but I don’t think we ever saw a woman’s backside the whole series.) Who are the gay guys gonna vote to keep on? Someone cute who’s gonna be shirtless a lot, that’s who!

I will admit I’m rooting for the only girl left, squirrel-gravy-backwoods Holly — seriously, she’s adorable, even if she needs to lose some more weight — but as one of the judges told her, even if she doesn’t win this competition, agencies will be beating down her door to represent her, so she’s going to win no matter what.
