On the phone earlier that day …
Markéta Irglová: “I feel really bad. Even though we’re up for best song written for motion picture, television or other visual media” — (for “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once”) — “nobody knew who I was and I couldn’t find anyone willing to let me borrow something tonight. I don’t think I’ll go.”
Costar and boyfriend Glen Hanserd: “No, don’t be like that. We’re indies, so we don’t care about the establishment. It’s not like it’s the SAG awards or anything. Look, to make sure you don’t stand out too much, I won’t dress up, either. At all. Like, I won’t even wear decent shoes.”
Irglová: “You’re right. And maybe people will see how desperate we are and volunteer to help us out for the Oscars, because that’s like, what, a month away? We’ve got to go through it all again then …”
