Great Stuff: Plus-size print dress from Silhouettes

A lot of plus-size fashion centers around the combination of tank top/jacket/trouser — or tank dresses that end at mid-calf, probably the least-flattering spot on a woman’s leg — so I think this above-the-knee dress is a breath of fresh air.
Now, a vibrant print like this can be a dicey prospect — if the dress is too shapeless, you’re veering into Mrs. Roper territory. (”Staaan-leeyyy.”) But this $74 charmeuse dress from Silhouettes looks like it has enough of a slimming, tailored waist to give the body a nice … well, silhouette. The “poet-style” sleeves are cute, too. As long as the bands aren’t too tight on the arm, and the stitching along the banded hem and neckline isn’t prone to puckering, I’d say this is a winner. This model probably represents the size 12, which is the smallest size Silhouettes sells, but the dress is sold in sizes up to 26.
