Green fashion show at Changing Hands

January 7th, 2008, 10:50 am · 1 Comment · posted by Sam Mittelsteadt

Changing Hands Bookstore will host a “green fashion show” of sustainable, recycled and organic clothing Saturday, Jan. 19. The clothing, from Bunky Boutique, includes designs by Angela Johnson, Armour Sans Anguish, Hippy Tree and (great name!) Preloved.

The free show will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the bookstore, 6428 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe.

What I like about the show: It’s a good reminder that not all great clothing finds are found new on store shelves. God knows that I buy enough merchandise at Buffalo Exchange — the Phoenix one has more stuff for grown-ups, while the Tempe one veers a little too ASU/Abercrombie for me — and vintage stores like My Sister’s Closet are a treasure trove.

What I don’t like: If I have to see one more T-shirt ballgown, I will not be responsible for my actions.sammit

WHAT SAM WORE: 1/7/08
The shirt: Long-sleeved waffle-weave thermal T-shirt (Old Navy)
The pants: Corduroy jeans by Union Bay (Last Chance)
The shoes: Leather boots by Doc Martens (Last Chance)
The scent: The long-discontinued Polo Crest

You probably won’t have to do anything drastic–Angela has a new line of clothing that is really cute. Check her site out.
