Shoe Hot or Not: New Year’s edition

When I hear that a shoe is made out of burlap, it connotes … sharecroppers, potato sacks and that recent episode of “Project Runway” where Marion got kicked off. So I’m not sure I would want a shoe that uses the material, even decoratively.

On the other hand, they look like this.
The Norfolk pump is part of American designer Lela Rose’s second collection for Payless. (The first was back in 2005, when her models wore Rose-designed Payless shoes even during her runway shows.)

If you think a 2.5-inch heel is too tall, there’s also a version in a flat, although I don’t care for it too much. Originally the pump and flat were $35 and $30, respectively; now they’re both on sale for less than $20.
What do you think: Would you plunk down a Jefferson for either pair? Leave your comments below by Friday, Jan. 11, to be entered to win a tube of Sun Eye Contour Care Ultra Protection SPF 30 cream by Clarins. (You can always comment afterward, too, but the prize already will have been awarded.)

I also found some Patricia Field shoes on the Payless site that apparently were designed for the triumphant return of the Lady Miss Kier from Deee-Lite. (Note: would also work well for some drag queens.) Three-tone metallic faux snake upper, a 4.5-inch wrapped heel on a 1-inch platform. Groove is in the heart, baby! (I still love that song.)
