The denim-clad do-gooders at the fourth annual “Blueprints & Bluejeans” event have a chance to win tickets to see “The Oprah Winfrey Show” live in Chicago (plus free airfare and hotel accommodations at the W). But they’re really there to raise money for Habitat for Humanity Valley of the Sun.

One of my e-mail messages this morning had all the trappings of spam: Just-messy-enough English, no real addressee names in the “to” box. …
“Hi, Do you know where can I find these Gaia Molino’s shoes in the U.S ? Thanks, Ana.”

Great Stuff: Guy-friendly bath bars from Lush

Thursday, January 24th, 2008 by Sam Mittelsteadt

One of my friends has a ritual whenever he goes on vacation: He takes a bath in the hotel tub. Apparently he’s got photos of himself soaking in tubs all over Europe and far-flung countries. And you thought a regular vacation slide show would be boring. Imagine this one: “We went to Spain. Here I am in a bathtub. We went to Paris. Here I am in a bathtub. I think they might be my spiritual sisters.

Hell must be really cold right now, because after weeks of foundering, Ricky ends up winning this week’s challenge — much to the consternation of me and Tim Gunn. But while his tube-dress design for Levi’s charms the judges, Victorya’s take on the trench gives them the blues and she is eliminated.

Draper’s & Damon’s “snowbird sale”

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 by Sam Mittelsteadt

Many clothing stores have deserted their 55-and-older customers, but Draper’s and Damon’s instead targets them: The California-based chain specializes in styles for an older but still stylish customer, in misses, petite and women’s sizes.

And for three days all Arizona stores are offering 15 percent off to welcome snowbirds back to the state.
