Shoe Hot or Not: Carlos Santana edition

When I look at this shoe it reminds me of calla lilies. Sure, when I examine it more closely I see the straps are silver, not white, but still. It has a sort of graceful quality about it.
However — because there is always a “however” …
I am never sure about sandals that are this strappy. One, they require your entire foot to be ultra-pedicured,
because everything’s on display. And, two, it seems like there’s a disproportionate opportunity to have … seepage. You know, when the skin bulges out, kind of like it’s trying to escape its constraints?

(And it makes you look like you’ve got really fat feet, or tried to shoehorn them into a size too small for vanity’s sake.)
This black suede “Radiant” shoe by Carlos Santana ($110) has a wide-open spot right where the pad of your foot, where all the weight is being distributed, hits the sole.
One thing I am certain of, though: I do not like this shoe in brown. At all.
So, discuss among yourselves: Is the black model hot, or not? I am squarely on the fence about this one: unable to declare it “hot,” yet unwilling to disparage it with a “not.” It’s in Shoe Purgatory.
What do you think? Leave your opinion below. Everyone who comments by noon Friday, Dec. 14, will be entered into a drawing to win this classic brush by Frederic Fekkai ($95) — which was just picked by Allure magazine readers as a Best in Beauty winner. UPDATE: Congratulations to Shayze, whose name was chosen as the winner. And remember: There’s a new shoe — and prize — posted every week. Good luck!

I am going to lean towards not. I feel bad, but I see a woman wearing a long black tube skirt and those ugly large brightly colored sweaters with shoulder pads and sequins attached wearing these.

Very pretty, but also looks exceedingly painful for walking.

I give it a hot in black. But it definitely has to be on the right foot!

I’m leaning toward hot on this. Especially with the full heel instead of the sling back we usually see with strappy shoes like this. But has to be on the right foot. The Brown is hideous though.

“Like his music the shoes are middle of the road and boring.
Is it a sandal or is it a pump? What is up with the side of the shoe under the straps?
The heel is not quite pointy yet not quite square.
a 3 1/4 inch heel does not equal evening.
I am sure they describe the shoe as comfortable. If you want comfort wear a birkenstock.
Don’t even get me started on the brown. This shoe is a NOT!”
