When Diane Aiello, above, opened Glam Lounge in March, she envisioned a studio where women could stock up on the products and lines Aiello herself had road-tested and approved during her career as a professional makeup artist. But she knew education would be an important component, too: She sees many women who’ve irritated their skin by applying too much of the wrong products, whether aggressive exfoliators or a cakey foundation. So Glam Lounge also offers makeup applications and skin care tutorials — for one woman or an entire bridal party, in-store or on location.

Core customer: Women looking to change their routine for the better. “They say, ‘I’m using this skin care line, and it has eight steps,’ ” Aiello says. “With the right products, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to finish everything in two minutes.” A team of aestheticians also performs waxing, eyebrow threading, and oxygen treatments and facials.

What’s in the window: Fragrances by Susanne Lang ($50-$95) and Comes From Within ($95).

High price point: Ultraluxe 9 Age-Control Complex ($185 for 1 ounce) by celebrity facialist-turned-skin-care mogul Sonja Dakar (“She’s Gwyneth’s go-to gal,” Aiello says).

Low price point: Skin care tools and gadgets start in the single digits, like some Japonesque makeup brushes ($5) and exfoliating cloths for face ($8) and body ($10) by Nufolia.

whatsinstore06po110707.jpgTop sellers: Cosmetics created by the late celebrity makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin: “It’s his reputation and notoriety,” Aiello says. Blushes like Pure Powder Glow ($37) in Shadore and Dolline or Creamy Moist Glow ($24) in Pravella and Tansoleil sell particularly well, and Aiello says she “can’t keep the lip and brow pencils ($24) in stock.”

She’s excited about: ModelCo, which next week will join Becca as one of the store’s brands formulated Down Under. “Australian cosmetics lines are higher in sunscreen,” Aiello says, “and are made for a climate very similar to ours.” (And now that she spends most of her day standing, she also champions ModelCo’s Catwalk Heels spray, designed to refresh and cool feet.)

Special event: The day after Thanksgiving the store will open early (9 a.m.) and stay open late to debut three lines: Lipstick Queen, Malin + Goetz and ModelCo. Staff will offer $30 mini-facials and 10 percent off eyebrow shaping, home fragrance, bath and body lines and perfumes. Appointments are recommended to reserve a spot for services.
