Shoe Hot or Not: Kylie Minogue edition

It should come as no surprise that I love pop music — probably more so than any other genre. So I’m downright giddy about the impending release of Kylie Minogue’s new album “X” (which is, appropriately, her 10th, if you’re counting). Here’s the video for the first single, which was released in the U.K. on Tuesday.

And, of course, the first thing I noticed about her — yes, really, even before the hair, which looks awesome but you don’t really get a good look until she’s fully lighted — was the red soles of her Louboutins.
And here they are, up close in full glory:

Yes, it’s another dreaded “bootie” .. but these are Louboutins. And patent leather. With a hidden zipper to make getting into them that much easier. (And that’s not a technical error on your machine — that’s my little magnifying glass embedded in the photo. I lifted the photo from the Neiman Marcus web site, where these go for [cough, cough] $760.)
So, am I just overly attached to these shoes because they were attached to the tootsies of a pop star? Or are they actually hot?
Leave your comments below — agree or disagree. (Don’t worry — I can handle the dissent.) On Friday, Nov. 23, I’ll draw the name of one lucky person to win free stuff from my style schwag. This week’s prize: an 8.5-ounce bottle of Nectarine Blossom & Honey bath oil by Jo Malone.
And remember — there’s a new one (almost) every week. Usually Thursdays, although I’ll probably be switching it to Tuesdays to give me a break from the one-two punch of “America’s Next Top Model” and “Project Runway” recaps on Wednesday nights.
And a quick postscript:

This shot really makes me miss Mike, my best friend who moved to Washington, D.C., last year. Because he has a belt buckle with a crystal skull on it, just like the one on her microphone. He texted me a photo of it on Halloween and said, “It’s that time.” (I don’t think he actually wore it out. I don’t believe he’s ever worn it, actually.)

First of all, I freaking love Kylie! She’s looking amazing, BTW. Next, I lust for those shoes. My grandma also said red shoes were for little girls and hookers, but with the red just kind of hiding out on the sole, I think these are slightly naughty but still hot.

So HOT! The red soles are such a bonus…wow. It does help that Kylie wears them really well.

The red from the bottom of the shoes works perfectly with the red in her lips and the dark, sultry mood of the video. Cute shoes, though, for $700+ I don’t think they are cute enough to put on my credit card.

Hot Hot Hot.

I don’t care who makes it - I can’t do the bootie.

Love THEM! I’m not sure about the dress with the Louboutins but the signature the red sole is hot hot hot. (Side note - Have you seen the bling bling peep toes? 1,300+ too rich for my blood) Patent leather is in and Kylie makes me see why.

Definitely hot. I hate booties but that little touch of red sold me. Although I doubt anything wouldn’t look hot on Kylie. I even liked her curls in the Locomotion video! (yikes - does that age me or what?)

I like the red heel but I don’t like the scrunchy part in front, not to mention that I think they would be hurty. Not from the heel but from where the shoe ends — so high up on the top of the foot (ouch!)

i love louboutins but i’m not feeling the booties…. cute for kylie, not for me!

Super hot and super chic!!!! Love the red soles!!

I rarely meet a pair of Louboutins I don’t adore, but these are So NOT hot. Shoe boots weren’t hot in the 80’s and they’re still not hot now. The patent, the ruching, the signature red bottom, all wonderful design elements, but the shoe bootie kills it for me. How I wish this was a pump.

HOT for suresies. It’s awesome that she’s healthy and looking good.

That’s one great pair of shoes!!!

The patent bootie is the “it shoe” of the season! Fabulous! Glam + edgy = HOT

I’m not a bootie fan, even if these are particularly hot booties. Although I may be upset because only ladies with sticks for legs can pull them off…

Where can I get my wife those for X-mas?
November 20th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Black patent leather: HOT
Red soles: Smokin’ HOT
Booties: NOT
These would look great with pants, but what’s the point when you want to show off the red?
Kylie pulls it off like a charm, though. Granted, anyone in a music video would look hot wearing just about anything. Isn’t that actually a law? ;o)
Great blog - I’ll definitely be back!

Thanks to all the commenters — and congratulations to Angela K, whose name was drawn to be the lucky winner of the Jo Malone bath oil. Look for a new contst every week …
