Go International:

October 18th, 2007, 4:38 pm by Sam Mittelsteadt

I’m not too taken with the collection of Target’s latest limited-edition GO International designer, Erin Fetherston. (Her designs hit stores in mid-November, and perhaps not coincidentally, the models after the jump bear an eerie resemblance to her — or at least her chosen hairstyle and color.) REDEFINING ‘THE F-WORD’
Have you wandered through the new Salvatore Ferragamo boutique in Scottsdale Fashion Square? OK, me neither: I did, however, peek in on my way to a store that sells more things that newspaper employees can afford. But, as it turns out, so does the Ferragamo boutique. Like F by Ferragamo Pour Homme eau de toilette ($55-$75), the new crisp and woody men’s fragrance. In the Valley, it’s exclusive to the Ferragamo boutique.

FUEL UP
As far as major denim and clothing lines go, Diesel is on the trendier side, so I was a little surprised that its new Fuel for Life eau de parfum ($64.50) for women is on the sweet, floral side. Don’t judge it by how it smells in the bottle (one of my friends said it reminded her of the pink powder soap in school bathrooms), because it morphs into something fruity and feminine. Find it at Diesel stores, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

MAKE IT A BRIGHTER DAY
Freeze & Go Instant Smoother and Brightener ($65) isn’t a facial moisturizer — it’s … well, an “instant smoother and brightener.” The silicone-based formula, which can go on over makeup, is designed with optical diffusers that give skin a velvety appearance and a bit of a highlight-style sheen. Sorry to say, I’m not giving one of these away: You’ll have to pick up your own at Nordstrom or Bath & Body Works stores.

New blog, new problems

October 5th, 2007, 3:35 pm by Sam Mittelsteadt

The joy of new programs! The Tribune recently switched blog applications, and in the process a lot of the coding on old posts got stripped out. That means those photos I so lovingly sized and arranged to fit the old blog system are now 20 pixels too wide, and hard returns (and some links) are missing.

I’m hoping to go through the most recent ones and rejigger everything so it’s nice and pretty again — but it’s going to take some time.

In the interim, I’ve extended the deadline for eligibility to win the scents pictured in the past two Great Stuff columns. Now you’ve got until Wednesday, Oct. 17, to shoot me an e-mail with your name and mailing address, and the name of the fragrance you’d like to win. Click on this link, which should bring up a new e-mail message form, and send me the information to be entered. Good luck!
