Tea Dreams
Gilbert Town Center
1090 S. Gilbert Road, Suite 105, Gilbert
Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Information: (480) 497-6633 or www.shopteadreams.com
Core customer: “Moms on the go who still want to stay trendy … and watch their price points,” says Christine Moss, who owns the store with her cousin, Allison Barta. It’s not just Gilbert women, either; in the month the store has been open, customers have trekked from as far away as Surprise and Anthem, Moss says. Part of the draw: Half the property is dedicated to a tea room (click here for photo), which serves lunch and tea 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and sells
more than 100 flavors retail at $1 to $15. The whole store looks like a jewelry case writ large: display boxes are flanked with pink satin tops and ginormous faux solitaire diamonds.
On the mannequin (left): 10-button blouse by Butterfly Dropout, $130. Jeans by Blue Tattoo, $187. Necklace by Sashay, $32.
Top sellers: Printed and embellished tops by Butterfly Dropout, which the store sells in three sleeve lengths. Moss credits the line’s “great fit” and flattering cut and points out that, thanks to the production process, each shirt is different.
High price point (above right): Sweater by Nanette
Lepore, $265.
Low price point (below right): Lingerie by Hanky Panky (panties are $17).
Local lines: Jewelry by Sashay; crystal-embellished flip-flops by Sparkle and Bows.
She’s excited about: A line called Dex, which includes jackets, sweaters and tops like one in teal jersey with a short bishop sleeve, $150.
