The Cos Bar
Kierland Commons shopping center, 15044 N. Scottsdale Road, Phoenix
Hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. After Labor Day, stores in the center will stay open until 9 p.m. weekdays, too.

The core customer: Women who profess to be intimidated by department store salespeople — but aren’t fazed by department store prices. The beauty boutique specializes in high-dollar
brands also found at luxury department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, from La Prairie to (Creme de) La Mer, Bliss to Bobbi Brown.
In the window (right): Fragrances by Bond No. 9 ($125-$195), Versace ($81), Cartier ($76-$106) and Lolita Lempicka ($66-$85).
Top sellers: Natura Bisse Diamond Extreme anti-aging cream ($300), which store manager Gloria Banuelos, pictured above helping a customer, calls “a cream that does it all.” The other popular products such as Creme d’Olives
($120, exclusive to Cos Bar) usually also have hydrating and firming qualities.
High price point: Might I refer you to the Diamond Extreme Cream item, above?
Low price point: Clinique Superdefense moisturizer, $39.50.
She’s excited about: “Right now the fall colors by Chanel” — earth tones and kits that emphasize the greens and olives, like this eye shadow quad in Garden Party (left, $55) — “are blowing out the door,” Banuelos says. Fall colors, in store by the beginning of August? Oh, yes: “By the time it’s advertised (in magazines) and customers start seeing it, it’s already sold-out here,” Banuelos says.
