Shoe Hot (and Less than $60!) or Not?

July 25th, 2007, 3:48 pm · 11 Comments · posted by Sam Mittelsteadt

This week’s "shootie" — a horrible word right up there with "Brangelina" — is significantly less expensive than last week’s Mystery Shoe (which was a $598 Chloe bootie that goes at Neiman Marcus, if you couldn’t figure it out — and congratulations to Crazy H, whose estimate was closest to the actual price). In fact, it’s on sale for about 1/10 as much. And, sure, it looks a little stiffer - OK, a lot stiffer — and less luxurious than the previous pair, but if you save $500 and still have money for lunch left over, I bet your feet will survive just fine. So: Would you wear it, and is it worth $59.99? Leave your comments below. (If you think so, it’s called "Kim" by east5th, and it’s sold at J.C. Penney.)And don’t forget — there’s a new shoe to vote on every Thursday.

NOT HOT. SquareToe, Chunky Heel and the stiching looks like it is coming undone. Not my Favorite

  2. Jackie Jackson Says:

Might like it better in black. It’s just aright for me dawg. I need something more VIP. It needs to pop like my lip gloss

I totally would wear this with a pair of long-ish dark jeans and a white tee or chunky brown sweater. The price is too hard to pass up, though I always hate ‘gold-tone’ metal accents because I think they make it easier to tell that the shoe is cheap.

The term ’shootie’ makes me think of shoo-fly pie.

Couldn’t do it with this heel - not even for $60. Also, I hate the square toe — it’s the compromise people make when they’re scared of pointy toes — I am not afraid!

Hey. 1979 called. They want their boot back.

This is an ugly shoe and should be destroyed.

  6. Greg Says:

I’m inclined to like this one. It seems a perfect combination to be worn with a pair of jeans during a long, hard mid-western winter. To be able to have an outing with snow over your head and -30 degree temps, I’d be thrilled if a ‘boot’ looked this good AND allowed me to not freeze my feet walking through snow and ice. I just got back from China, though, so perhaps my opinion is suffering from jet lag (as is my body).

    Not impressed

Wearable - as a person who actually has to slog through snow & slush in the fall/winter/spring, I am much more inclined to drop $60 for shoes I will most likely ruin in 1 season than the $600 previous selections. The wider heel may also save me a trip to the ER.

  9. Tammy Says:

I would really like this shoe if it were in BLACK. I would wear these with a pair of jeans and a fitted top. Who says your feet have to be squished into a pair of pointed shoes to look cute???

  10. Suzanne Says:

J.C. Penney and shoes should not be in the same sentence together.

  11. Crazy H Says:

Okay. However, the quality looks like something you would see at Payless.
