Mystery Shoe Hot or Not!

July 19th, 2007, 4:31 pm · 14 Comments · posted by Sam Mittelsteadt

This week, a twist on the traditional Shoe Hot or Not game: I’m not saying how much this Italian-made leather bootie costs … at least not right away.By the way, if you love the bootie (which is different from loving the booty) you’re going to love this fall: Luxury retailer Neiman Marcus has four pages of booties for sale on its Web site. So, two questions: How much do you think this sells for? And how much do you think it’s worth? Leave your estimates in the comments section, then come back and highlight the paragraph that exists below. The answers will be revealed. …And don’t forget — there’s a new one to vote on every Thursday.Chloe bootie, $598 at Neiman Marcus.

worth zero dollars! i don’t like it! sells for umm… $300?

  2. Michael Says:

I like it but once again this is a shoe to be worn by someone who knows what they are doing.
    I say $450.00

  3. Jodi Says:

Could be worse. But I’m afraid to find out how much it costs. If Needless Markup sells it, I’m wagering $550.

  4. Sharyn Says:

It’s kind of … not doing much for me. Not awful, but it doesn’t shout out, Buy Me! (It would look cute, though, under a nice pair of jeans. But this is only if you have money to burn. Speaking of money, I’ll go with $395 — but only because it’s from Neiman’s. I also would have accepted $39.95 from Payless. Perhaps the photo does not do the fine Corinthian leather justice.)

  5. Francesca Says:

It’s okay. I would prefer it in Black and if it had a pointier toe..but then I guess it would be a different shoe. If it is at Neiman Marcus then it is most likely $600.00 to $650.00 and for that kind of money they better make my @ss look smaller too! No additional comments from you Sammit!

  6. Shannon Says:

In the spirit of THE PRICE IS RIGHT, I bid $1.

  7. Tammy Says:

I’m going to guess $595.00 only because Neiman Marcus can sell it for that much. This shoe doesn’t look comfortable and I wouldn’t waste my $$ on them..not even if I had my mother-in-laws money!!

  8. cj Says:

    I like this shoe.
    $675.

  9. Christina Says:

I like this shoe, but I wouldn’t buy this shoe — not because I’m sure it costs $895 (but I wouldn’t pay a penny over $200 for a bootie because I wouldn’t wear it much in AZ) but because it’s just not my style. Maybe it’s the angle of the photo, but it looks kind of clunky.

  10. Suzanne Says:

I think it looks nice and the leather looks like fine quality. I would say $550.00

  11. TK Says:

Sam, are you intentionally looking for weird (see “ugly”) shoes? This shoe is marginal at best, until you get to the heel and things go very wrong. What’s happening there? Italian & Neiman?!? I’ll say $525.00.

  12. Lou Says:

I saw this shoe in black by Loeffler Randall and it was much cuter. Had a buckle. Loves it. Price= $455.00. Do I get a prize for being the winner?

  13. jen Says:

I thought leather flip-flops sold for $455 at Neimens and so my guess was going to be more along the ridiculous lines of $1000.

As for the style itself, I only wish there was more detail considering what the price of this bootie must be. I’m only for simplicity if I don’t have to spend 1/2 a paycheck for it.

  14. Crazy H Says:

I am not sure how I really feel. I see grandma shoes with heels and wicked witch all at the same time. And yet the color and heel are quite nice. Is it Velcro? I would say $585. Not because I am really taking a guess, but because it seems like a happy median to others answers.
