HALF-CREDIT

Give New York Knicks star Stephon Marbury credit for introducing sneakers that sell for $14.98. A quick search of "Nike basketball" brings up LeBron James-branded shoes for $159, and the Jason Kidd 2K3 sneaker for $465.

That’s such a crappy, shallow attitude to have towards Stephen Marbury’s “cheap” sneakers. Maybe if you grew up in the NYC projects, and weren’t such a yuppie, you would understand what a great thing he is doing for the children and parents who can’t afford shoes Nike, sportstar-endored sneakers.

Go back and read the first sentence on that entry again … I say Marbury certainly deserves credit for introducing a low-cost sneaker. In fact, it’s been so successful that the Starbury II is supposed to be released in April (sign up at http://www.starbury.com for more info). His challenge is making kids want to wear them.
I remember well what it felt like to not get a pair of shoes you really, really wanted because even though “everyone else” had a pair, they were prohibitively expensive. (Fifth grade, white Nikes with the red swoosh, $55.)
